MART 125 PROJECT
Revitalizing a historic Harlem building into a modern community house for culture, entrepreneurship, and creativity.
THE PAST
History of the MART location
MART 125 located at 260-262 West 125th Street New York, NY 10027 has deep cultural roots as a center of commerce, creativity, and community life in Harlem. Originally opened in 1986 as an indoor vendor market, the site closed to the public in the early 2000s and has remained largely vacant since, making it a prime candidate for thoughtful redevelopment and community-led reuse.

The proposed concept honors its legacy by restoring community pride and returning opportunity to local entrepreneurs and cultural taste makers. An iconic location, Mart 125 revives itself as a mixed program community house: as a everyday place for local commerce, museum-quality exhibitions, media production, and shared dining and events.
