Goals & Impact
Fashion Museum of Harlem
The Fashion Museum of Harlem offers programming that celebrates fashion as culture, history, and creative expression. Through rotating exhibits, living archives, and educational public programs, the museum creates an experience that is both reflective and interactive.
Each quarter, the museum will present a new exhibition exploring key themes in Harlem fashion and style. Featured topics include streetwear and luxury intersections, Harlem Renaissance fashion, costume design in film and music, and sustainable or upcycled fashion.
Rotating Exhibits (Quarterly)
The museum preserves oral histories from designers, tailors, and stylists while also maintaining a digital archive curated by youth fellows. These archives ensure that Harlem’s fashion legacy is documented, shared, and kept alive for future generations.
Living Archives
The museum will host designer talks and fireside chats, fashion history workshops, school tours, curriculum partnerships, and youth fashion labs for ages 14–21. These programs invite visitors, students, and community members to engage with fashion history in meaningful ways.
